Security Officer I

Under close supervision, the successful candidate will perform routine duties to maintain campus safety and security such as patrolling assigned areas of campus on foot and automobile to control traffic, deterring crime, responding to emergencies, providing general assistance to the public, and performing other related duties as assigned.

Completion of High School or equivalent and two years of security work; Some knowledge of safety and security procedures, CPR or ability to be trained in CPR and Automated Electronic Defibrillators (AED); Knowledge of the University’s policies, procedures, and campus a plus; Possession of a valid driver’s license and good driving record; No criminal record. Skill in operation of automobiles; telephone switchboard, two-way radios, alarm systems and computers. Ability to follow directions, apply principles to solve practical problems, analyze problems quickly and take appropriate action under stress, perform simple arithmetic, read and write routine reports and correspondence, write legibly, speak clearly and audibly, provide courteous service and lift up to 75 pounds.

Skill in operation of automobiles; telephone switchboard, two-way radios, alarm systems and computers. Ability to work in all weather conditions, rotating shift assignments including weekends and holidays and emergency situations.
