The Department of Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology is looking for a Scientist, SOM with a vast knowledge and expertise of mass spectrometry activities to support their area.

The Scientist, SOM will support the University’s research goals and objectives by engaging in complex experiments and investigations in a range of areas, depending on specialty and interests. Moreover, an employee in this position contributes to the scientific community and promotes the University’s reputation as a leader in the field.

CORE JOB FUNCTIONS                                                                                              

  • Knowledge and expertise of mass spectrometry-associated activities, particularly for sample preparation, image acquisition, data management and data analysis.

  • Oversees research employees, students, and other relevant staff.

  • Authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications.

  • Assists in the development of training materials for research staff.  

  • Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.

  • Prepares research proposals and funding applications.

  • Ensures that all activities are in compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standards.

  • Maintains current knowledge of relevant scientific and technical developments.

  • Presents ongoing work and findings to colleagues at academic conferences.

  • Ability to work closely with individuals from a broad range of fields.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability for verbal communication in both small and large group settings.

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and meet deadlines.

  • Authors scientific publications, technical and agency reports, and patent applications.

  • Assists in the development of training materials for research staff. 

  • Plans experiments and records and analyzes findings.

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS                                                                                            

  • Ph.D., M.D. or other doctoral level degree required

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, must have knowledge and expertise of mass spectrometry-associated activities
