The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Molecular & Cellular Pathology, is seeking a Scientist I. Dr. Daniel Tyrrell's laboratory studies aging specific disease mechanisms by modeling chronic inflammatory diseases using old mice. We use cutting edge molecular biology, immunology, and genetic approaches including flow cytometry, imaging, and single-cell RNA sequencing. We use a variety of murine model systems to understand neurodegeneration and atherosclerosis. We are particularly interested in how cytotoxic T cells contribute to autoimmunity and disease pathology. We are seeking a laboratory manager to join our dynamic, cutting-edge research environment to support our mission by ensuring the seamless operation of our laboratory. This role involves overseeing the care and handling of our mouse colony, performing biological assays, maintaining safety protocols, data analysis, and training junior scientists. The ideal candidate will be proficient in laboratory operations, communication, organization, with a background in molecular biology.
