Description

 

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Department of Neurology, Movement Disorders Division, is seeking a Scientist I. This position entails the independent execution of research projects and the completion of scientific studies, manuscript writing, and publishing in esteemed journals.

 

General Responsibilities

  • To employ a broad knowledge of principles, practices and procedures in a particular field of specialization.
  • To plan, coordinate, and conduct research.

Key Duties & Responsibilities  

  • Analyzes and interprets research data; prepares statistical and narrative reports and/or graphs.
  • Oversees the sharing of research data with large data repositories.
  • Plans and coordinates scientific research requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard scientific techniques, writes grant applications, and carries projects to completion.
  • Designs and oversees experiments and data collection to ensure data integrity, quality control and protocol compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Hourly Range   $30.35 - $49.86

     

    Qualifications

     

    Doctor of Philosophy, D.V.M. or M.D. degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR M.D. and Master's degree.

    • OR Master's degree and four (4) years of related experience
    • OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of related experience required.

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirements. 

     

    Preferences

    The ideal candidate is an experienced expert in data analysis, database management, imaging studies, and neurobiology. Moreover, the applicant should possess comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures pertinent to the field and an advanced understanding of movement physiology.
