The George Washington University is recruiting for a full-time School Research Administrator to work in a dynamic and growing research environment within SEAS, SMHS and SON. This position performs pre-award administration of sponsored projects; and, are responsible for providing administrative support and direction to research units. The position usually identifies potential grants opportunities and assists Principal Investigators (PI) with proposal development efforts including, but not limited to budget creation, grant writing and compiling scientific documents in accordance with sponsor guidelines and GW policies for proposal submission. This position explains facts, policies and practices related to pre-award and exchanges information. Other responsibilities include:
· Prepares all necessary paperwork (internal and external, obtains all necessary signatures and conducts final review of proposals and tracks progress of grant/contract submission and ensures timely submission of proposals through GWU’s MyResearch.
· Acts as a primary liaison between the Principal Investigator, School of Medicine, Office of Sponsored Programs, Grants and Contracts Accounting and the sponsor (grant/contract pre award).
· Analyzes data, interprets information, provides logical
conclusions/projections for proposal budget preparation. Responds to inquiries from multiple levels of management within Department, faculty and staff, sponsors, and other officials, resolves problematic issues, clearly and accurately communicates all information to Principal Investigator relating to grant/contract (pre-award).
· Maintains grant/contract files and various spreadsheets (budgets, etc.).
· Ensures accurate submission process and timely routing to the OSP department.
This position supports a school’s research efforts and performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
