Position Summary Information
General Information | The School of Theatre and Dance is seeking an outstanding student to assist with the event planning and execution needs of the office. The student assistant should have a desire to learn about School of Theatre and Dance events, have great attention to detail, effective time management skills, and an interest in interacting with both current and future JMU Faculty, Staff and Students. The Alumni Events and Office Assistant must be available to work hours (to be determined based on availability) between the hours of 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday within the School of Theatre and Dance. As an integral member of the Office Management Team, the student may be required to work special events such as Audition and Visitation Days, Student Awards and other ad hoc events as requested. |

Duties and Responsibilities | · Work with the School of Theatre and Dance team in the planning and implementation of a variety of Office Management and Production Administration based tasks. · Assist with creating and printing publication materials. · Manage Visitation/Audition Day reservations · Assist with event setup/take down · Keep track of department equipment and help keep the office supply rooms organized · Answering Office Phone line and redirecting calls. · Prepare meeting materials when asked. · Assist with hallway and door signage. · Perform other duties as assigned |
Qualifications | · Current JMU student · Must be enrolled in at least 6 credits · Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy · Ability to work independently and on a team · Effective time management, task organization and prioritization skills · Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word · Able to carry 50 pounds |
Conditions of Employment | Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate). Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
