Position Announcement

Utah Valley University is seeking a Scholarship Coordinator! Working under the direction of the leadership of Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, provides leadership and scholarship management for various institutional, state, and federal grant and scholarship programs. Works directly with departments across campus to train and assist with the awarding of scholarships. Reviews student files to ensure accuracy and compliance in awarding aid to students. Must be able to obtain access to Federal Government databases pertaining to federal student aid.


Summary of Responsibilities

  • Creates training resources for campus partners in scholarship policy, procedure, and system operations. Conducts regular trainings and is the scholarship liaison for departments across campus and will make decisions autonomously about scholarship administration.            
  • Administers federal, state, and private scholarship programs interpreting regulations and creating policies and procedures. Research federal and state regulations and information in review of financial aid and scholarship applications and related documentation for compliance. 
  • Exercises professional judgement on scholarship appeals, deferments, and reinstatement decisions.
  • Advise students and parents in person, email, service tickets, and over the phone concerning federal, state, and institutional financial aid. Conducts student need analysis, performs packaging of student aid, certifies federal and private loan eligibility, executes professional judgment decisions regarding student aid eligibility, and reconciles federal student aid programs. Aids students and parents in the completion of financial aid and scholarship applications. Works with the Assistant Athletic Director in processing aid in compliance with NCAA rules.
  • Assists co-workers when needed to ensure the successful operation of the department. Perform other duties as assigned. Daily processing of reports and peripheral documentation pertaining to scholarship aid eligibility and awarding. Ensures accuracy when entering annual budget allocations in both the scholarship and Banner systems.


Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor's degree in a directly related field of study; OR a combination of education and experience totaling four years.

  • Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional rules pertaining to financial aid and scholarships
  • including need analysis, eligibility assessment, packaging strategies, loan awarding, evaluation
  • of academic progress, and NCAA rules.
  • Knowledge of compiling data and preparing reports.
  • Knowledge of financial aid institutional policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of computerized financial aid systems, preferably Banner.
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, power
  • point, internet tools, email systems, and other general computer skills.
