Description of Work Unit | The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President is responsible for providing the academic vision and leadership to fulfill the University’s land-grant mission. The work unit articulates, communicates, and facilitates the development of fundamental values basic to the University’s mission and administers academic programs and policies. It oversees the academic programming and faculty affairs on campus, as well as provides oversight for the division of student affairs. University student success efforts are coordinated through the Provost’s Office as we strive to improve retention and close opportunity gaps. The Community for Excellence provides strength-based and identity conscience mentoring to scholarship students in order to facilitate student learning and enrich successful integration to CSU. The Community for Excellence (C4E) Network is a collaborative Colorado State University effort designed to increase success rates and decrease graduation gaps of students who have been historically and institutionally underserved in higher education, including first generation, limited income, historically underrepresented racial/ethnic group, and eligible undocumented students. The honor of the community includes financial support augmented with a dedicated CSU staff member, a Scholar Contact, who provides early connection, mentorship, support, and proactive outreach. The Community for Excellence is a collaborative effort, which leverages several strategic programs and offices, all of which focus on educational equity and includes the Access Center , Academic Advancement Center , and Scholar Success Programs. The C4E campus partner network is an intentional effort to collaborate with other campus offices that also focus on educational equity, like Key Communities and Student Diversity Programs and Services . This position will be part of the C4E initiative and working out of the Scholar Success Programs (SSP) unit. |
Position Summary | The Community for Excellence Scholar Success Specialist is a full-time position responsible for supporting and mentoring award recipients, which includes the critical areas of academic success, career development, and leadership development, while promoting student retention and graduation. This position reports to the Assistant Director for Student Experience and Operations who oversees the university-wide Community for Excellence retention initiatives. Hybrid work available after 6 months of employment; one day a week remotely. Additionally, there are times in the year when in-person/on-campus work is required and hybrid is not an option. |
