The Agricultural Safety and Health Program in the Department of Food, Agricultural, and Biological Engineering at Ohio State University seeks Safety and Emergency Education Specialist. Candidates should be a highly creative and motivated person to carry out workforce development training specifically in the area of agricultural safety and health. The focus is on professional development for adults working or training students and adolescent workers.
The person will coordinate efforts of the national Safety in Agriculture for Youth (SAY) Program to create awareness and synergy with SAY activities, research and outreach education. This position will assist national project administrators with marketing, evaluation, building capacity, and expanding the reach of SAY resources throughout the U.S. Assist with designing and creating professional development activities to advance competency in students and educators.
Candidate will prepare, deliver, and evaluate seminars, conference sessions, and train-the-trainer workshops for youth tractor and machinery safety/certification programs at local, state and national levels. Candidate will prepare translational resources via factsheets, social media and outreach education curriculum for agricultural audiences in formal and non-formal education settings. Candidate will interpret public policy documents for lay audiences in the area of youth labor, specifically agriculture. Coordinate national efforts for synergy and advancement of youth safety workforce development. Candidate will network and build partnerships with state boards of education, state extension systems, federal labor and safety agencies, national advisory boards, and agricultural commodity groups and associations. Candidate will work collaboratively with national SAY objectives and other local/state/national programs supporting the mission and advancement of workforce development of young workers, including the development of a national marketing plan. Conduct evaluation studies and assist with data management and monitoring. Candidate will develop and conduct a national needs assessment of tractor and machinery safety/certification programs following research standards. Candidate will prepare research results for publication in reports and journals, and present at conferences and workshops.
This is a 50% Part-Time Position
The salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
