HOURS: Monday through Friday 8AM to 5PM. No weekends, holidays or call required. 

DEPARTMENT: Surgery Clinic - Craniofacial Program

 

SALARY: $6,272.93 - $9,129.47/Month Monthly paid position

ABOUT THE JOB: 

The Division of Plastic Surgery within the Surgery Clinic is looking for a dedicated nurse clinician to help grow the Cleft Palate Craniofacial program here at MUHC. The nurse clinicians’ main goal would be to help achieve and maintain American Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association (ACPA) accreditation. The nurse clinician would have medical knowledge necessary to answer many patient and family questions as well as the problem solving and critical thinking skills needed to address common problems such as drafting IEPs, arranging transport/financial aid, coordinating appointments, acquiring outside records, communicating with internal and outside providers. These clinical functions are in addition to the myriad other administrative, record keeping, and quality assurance tasks necessary to maintain ACPA approval.

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

To deliver selected aspects of health care to a specialized patient population who need consultation, research, and/or direct patient care requiring technical and focused advanced skills and knowledge.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Act as a resource person for patients, families, nursing staff and other health care professionals in area of expertise. Develops patient /family education materials for assigned patient population. Provides staff education as needed. Assists manager in improving nurse sensitive indicators, rounds with nursing staff assessing knowledge and compliance of staff. Tracks programmatic quality indicators and participates in Quality/Performance improvement activities. Clinical research support: recruit and screen potential research subjects; carry out research protocol as written; monitor patient’s compliance; and compile, retrieve and analyze research data. Collaborates with other health professionals in the provision of patient care while maintaining standards of care utilizing the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as the foundation for nursing practice and meeting the standards for regulatory requirements for state and federal agencies. Participate in the planning, developing, facilitating/coordinating and evaluation of interdisciplinary patient care includes nursing and various clinical disciplines. Rounds with physician team as directed. Includes patient/family education and discharge planning. Participates in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care for the assigned patient population. Provides direct patient care as required. Promote and achieve satisfaction of external and internal customers. Effectively intercede with families and patients and resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care services. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Direction is received from a designated supervisor.

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Functional supervision may be exercised over nurses and nursing support staff.

Qualifications

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Two (2) years of RN experience in an area of specialization. Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
