Position Summary
As part of a multidisciplinary team, this clinical nurse coordinator position is within the Inflammatory Bowel Disease section of the Division of Gastroenterology, providing advanced, high-quality care to individuals affected with chronic inflammatory GI disorders such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. The position provides direct clinical support as well as phone support to a high-volume practice that utilizes complex therapies and most up-to-date standards of care.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • This position consists of ~50% clinical support and 50% in-office phone support with variable work schedule. 
  • Clinical support consists of collaboration with the provider and care team members in the facilitation of patient care on an outpatient setting, providing order and prescription entry into the EMR, patient education on new medications/therapy management and disease monitoring, as well as the facilitation of patient resources.
  • In-office support consists of considerable phone volume providing skilled triage, critical thinking in collecting a thorough patient assessment verbally over the phone, education and collaboration/communication within the patient care teams.
  • Management of high-profile therapies that are infusion based, self-injected and/or orally administered that require thorough patient education to ensure therapy adherence, frequent/close lab monitoring, procedures for disease assessments and close appointment follow up.
  • Utilization and implementation of patient resources including therapy support resources and financial assistance.
  • Coverage of other staff within the same nurse coordinator role when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of techniques and methodologies used in developing, coordinating and managing clinical research projects with working knowledge of database management, spreadsheet and statistical analysis software.


Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Two years of nursing experience.


REQUIRED LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act.
  • Basic Life Support Certification, Level C, or obtains certification within one month of employment (Online Basic Life Support certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the Basic Life Support requirements).

Salary Range
$59,600.00 - $103,600.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
