Position Summary | The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center Pediatrics Department encompasses a network of hospitals, clinics and community-based services that are integrally linked through education and research to apply advanced medical science to the patients they serve and an abiding concern for the well-being of children to improve and restore health for New Mexico’s youngest residents. The Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group is one of two COG affiliated pediatric practices in the state of New Mexico. We offer an opportunity to work in a range of clinical, academic, research, and/or community settings. The Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology is seeking one full-time Specialty Nurse to work with our pediatric oncology patients. This person will be responsible for the following: planning and implementing inpatient and outpatient nursing care by organizing patient treatment plans, prepping for clinic visits, triaging phone calls from families/patients and physicians both within UNM and from outside UNM. They will also coordinate care for our patients with other specialists, arrange for follow-ups following discharge from inpatient unit or clinic, work with the Clinical Researchers on clinical trials, and provide education to our patients and families on their cancers/disorder and provide instruction on proper treatment and care. Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor's degree in Nursing or a related clinical field; at least 1 year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. Certification/Licensure State of New Mexico Licensed Registered Nurse or licensure pending as documented by temporary licensure OR current RN licensure from a state participating in the multistate privilege to practice compact with New Mexico. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis. |
