Job Description:

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Advising & LifeMap, the Retention and Student Success Coordinator will work closely with LifeMap Navigators to develop, implement and continuously assess programming that fosters academic success and retention of students who have fallen below satisfactory academic standing. The Retention and Student Success Coordinator will provide leadership for Early Alert programming, including intrusive and holistic student support services and targeted interventions. In addition, the Coordinator will manage the TargetX Retention Suite/Early Alert System including the training and professional development of end users.

Specific Duties:

  • Use data-driven, proactive, and asset-based student success strategies to assist with implementation and management of the TargetX Retention Suite/Early Alert System.
  • Analyze data from the TargetX Retention Suite to identify trends and develop strategies for intervention and support for targeted student populations.
  • Use data to continuously assess the effectiveness of and student satisfaction with student retention programming.
  • Engage with faculty, coaches, navigators, and other student support professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student success and to facilitate reporting of academic/progress updates for students.
  • Communicate with students not making satisfactory academic progress to provide guidance, resources, and referrals to appropriate support services.
  • Hire, train, and supervisor staff navigators and peer mentors to engage with and support students not making satisfactory academic progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of student interactions and interventions in compliance with privacy regulations, including FERPA.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director to design and facilitate faculty and staff training curriculum on the Target X Retention Suite/Early Alert System purpose, tools, and expectations.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development on all technology used within the Advising & LifeMap department.
  • Engage in college service by assisting the Associate Director with advising duties for the Academic Records Appeal Committee.
  • Participate in student enrollment events two Saturdays per peak enrollment period.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.


Requirements:

  • Master's degree and five years of full-time experience in academic advising, student assessment, career development or program/project management; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in academic advisement and student services.
  • Prior experience managing or using early alert and student information systems.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership experience.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Proven ability to work with a diverse, faculty, staff, and student population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual
  • Experience working in a community college and/or Minority Serving Institution (MSI);
  • History of working with BIPOC and LGBTQ populations


Additional Information:

Salary Range: $70,120.00 - $76,491.00.  Actual Salary Will Be Commensurate With Education and Experience in Accordance with MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement.  Full state Benefits.

Grade: 6 Unit-Professional position
