The University of Miami Health Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Respiratory Therapist.

SUMMARY

The  Respiratory Therapist – PRN (U) works as part of a team of physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to manage patient care by using a variety of testing techniques. Additionally, the incumbent assists doctors in cardiac and pulmonary research and facilitates the diagnosis of respiratory disorders.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Assesses patient’s overall status and makes recommendations for care in order to more effectively treat patient. Under the orders of a physician delivers therapeutic modalities such as oxygen/humidity therapy, hyperinflation therapy, and chest physiotherapy so that the goals of patient care plan may be accomplished. Communicates information regarding patient’s clinical status to members of the health care team, supervisors, and physicians accurately and promptly so that patient care goals may be accomplished.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Graduate from a two (2) year program in Respiratory Therapy is required.
  • Current and Valid State of Florida Respiratory Therapist license is required.
  • Current and Valid BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications are required.
  • 1 year of experience preferred.
