Library Collections Storage Unit - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (23009325)
 

1. Handles all aspects of Resource Sharing (RS) requests for both internal and external audiences (borrowing and lending) across all RS platforms.
 - fills requests from Pitt community for materials not available locally
 - fills requests from other libraries for materials held at Pitt 
 - can operate across all platforms available to RS Unit to manage the requests 

2. Understands RS workflows, and contributes to their periodic assessment to improve effectiveness of service and library user experience.

3. Manages the shipping software database and supervises shipping for the RS materials.

4. Hires, trains, and supervises student employees.

Hours of work (generally) are Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm, but may vary.
The position is in person.



Job Summary

Assists personnel, answers inquiries, locates materials, and provides guidance related to library services. Researches and identifies resources to support informational needs. Maintains and updates online library systems and guides student employees.


Essential Functions 

Communication skills, specifically oral and written, are required to complete many of the job tasks. Must be able to read and use scholarly resources in print and on-line. Must be able to work at a computer. Must be able to move freely around campus and through Hillman Library and use ladders to reach higher shelves as necessary.


Physical Effort 

Incumbent must be able to move freely throughout the library. May be required to move about campus.
Must be able to, on occasion:
  Lift and handle heavy bound books and journals
  Lift standard full US postal bins containing library materials
  Package and open mail containing library materials: full boxes, single mailers, envelopes
  Maneuver full standard library book-trucks, large bins for book storage, and hampers 
  Shelve and shift library materials
