Job Summary 
Serves as the resource and referral training specialist for the Mississippi Early Childhood Inclusion Center: Resource and Referral. Provides information to early childhood educators and families seeking information while providing support to MECIC.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the initial resource and referral contact for MECIC: R&R, assisting early childhood educators and families, documenting needs and supports, and connecting educators and families with support.
  • The Resource and Referral Training Specialist works closely with project stakeholders to provide support and referrals to promote early childhood inclusion; included, but not limited to materials, navigating resources, and consumer education.
  • Coordinates MECIC: R&R activities, as needed, for area meetings, conferences, and training sessions including securing locations, materials, and supplies and assisting with the facilitation of such events.
  • The Resource and Referral Training Specialist operates the MECIC: R&R Lending Library, cataloging, reporting, and organizing materials that are loaned monthly.  Provides consumer education and support to providers and families on developmentally appropriate materials.
  • Collects and inputs data in designated databases for MECIC: R&R.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications  
    Associates Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education, Child and Family Sciences, or Early Childhood Special Education.

    • Adept in Microsoft Office.
    •  Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
    • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
    • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
    • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends, as necessary.
    • Resourceful and determined to provide a positive experience for others.
    • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to be compassionate and empathetic while working with a diverse population.
    • Must maintain currency on relevant research, professional certifications, and continuing education.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree preferred and 1 to 3 years related experience and/or training in early childhood inclusion.
