Primary Function of Organizational Unit
The College of Education is home to six instructional departments, the Office of Educator Preparation, the Office of Research, and the Office of Assessment, Data Management, and Digital Learning, and the Center for STEM Education. The mission of the College of Education is to prepare well-equipped professionals for the education field. The Summer Ventures Camp is an outreach program hosted by the Center for STEM Education for high school students in the region.
Job Duties
The Center for STEM Education within the College of Education is seeking an individual to fill a vacancy for a Residence Life Assistant Director with the Summer Ventures Camp in a temporary, time-limited, exempt professional staff (EPS) position with availability from June 23, 2024 through July 20, 2024. The Summer Ventures Residence Life Assistant Director will assist the Residence Life Director in supervision, guidance, organization, and activities for our approximately 45 academically successful high school juniors and seniors from all across NC, as well as assist with coordination of RA tasks/duties. Students live in an ECU residence hall for four weeks of the program and attend various challenging classes in math, science, engineering and technology on ECU’s campus taught by ECU faculty. Residence Life Assistant Director will communicate with students, other Residence Life staff, faculty, parents, and Summer Ventures administration to be certain we are offering our students a high-impact math/science enrichment experience in accordance with our mission.
Supervision – Assistant to Residence Life Director (70%)
The Summer Ventures Residence Life Assistant Director will assist the Residence Life Director in supervision, guidance, organization, and activities for our approximately 45 academically successful high school juniors and seniors from all across NC.
Management – Assistance with coordination of RA tasks/duties (20%).
Students live in an ECU residence hall for four weeks of the program and attend various challenging classes in math, science, engineering, and technology on ECU’s campus taught by
ECU faculty.
Administration – Student and Staff Assistance (10%)
Utilizing technology skills and resources, the Residence Life Assistant Director will communicate with students, other Residence Life staff, faculty, parents, and Summer Ventures administration to be certain we are offering our students a high impact math/science enrichment experience in accordance with our mission.
Contingent upon availability of funding.
Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field, education, or related area required.
License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
None
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Experience in instruction and/or program development/organization desired.
License or Certification Required by the Department
