JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Penn State College of Medicine, Department of Physiology, in Hershey, PA, is seeking a Researcher. This NIH-funded Researcher position is available in Dr. Shengyu Yang’s lab to study the role of mitochondrial calcium signaling and cysteine metabolism in cancer metastasis. Our goal is to reveal how the dysregulated mitochondrial signaling and metabolic stress in metastatic cancer cells promotes pancreatic cancer progression and metastasis.  This project is built on our recent discoveries that the activation of mitochondrial calcium uniporter in pancreatic cancer cells is able to regulate cysteine metabolism to promote pancreatic cancer progression. Biochemistry, cell biology, genetically engineered mouse models and patient-derived organoids / xenografts will be employed in the study. 

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field and at least 4 years of experience postdoctoral experience in related field.  Experience with metabolomics, cancer metabolism, and mass spectrometry and genetically engineered mouse models will be desirable but not required.

This is a limited-term non-tenure line position funded for one year from date of hire, with possibility of refunding.
