Description

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a Researcher III in Behavioral Neurobiology. This position will conduct laboratory research in the field of neuroimmunology and psychiatry under the direct guidance of the principal investigator.

The position provides ample opportunities to acquire new knowledge/skills for career development as a researcher.

General Responsibilities

As directed:

  • To independently set up and perform experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • To collect, enter, summarize, and analyze data.
  • To monitor results, detect and report unusual outcomes and suggest modifications.
  • To develop and improve techniques for the lab.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Sets up and performs experiments and procedures in support of lab goals.
  • Develops and improves techniques for the lab.
  • Maintains essential lab resources, particularly rodent colonies. Will work with live rodents (mice).
  • Performs sample preparation, runs assays, cell/tissue culture, animal studies, etc.
  • Performs other miscellaneous research-related duties as assigned.
  • Contributes to planning/design of studies.
  • Collects, enters, summarizes and analyzes data.
  • Monitors results, detects and reports unusual outcomes and suggests modifications.
  • May assist in planning long or short term goals/fiscal management.
  • Performs maintenance of lab equipment and supplies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Salary Range $35,570.00 - $59,800.00 Annually



    Qualifications

    Requirements

    • Master's degree in a related field
    • OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience
    • OR Associate's degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience

    Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.

    Preferences

    • Degree in Neurobiology, Immunology, Biomedical science, Biomedical engineering, Biology or related program
