Responsibilities:
80% will be lab work: conducting experiments, cell culture maintenance, virus preparation, and routine laboratory tasks
These essential duties are as follows:
Design and conduct complex laboratory experiments related to human and canine osteosarcoma.
Perform cell culture and maintain cell lines used in experiments.
Design experiments, including those utilizing animal models. 
Assist with animal handling, including administration of drugs and other treatments.
Transportation of samples between the veterinary school and the lab for processing.
Process blood and tissue samples.
Have some degree of schedule flexibility to process occasional samples after hours.
Enrich exosomes from samples and perform exosome characterization (including flow cytometry, nanoparticle tracking analysis, electron microscopy, and immunoblot).
Perform DNA and RNA extraction from blood and tissue samples.
Prepare and submit samples for next-generation sequencing. 
Perform protein extraction from exosome preparations.
Attend laboratory meetings and present research findings.
Collect, organize, and analyze data from laboratory experiments. 
Keep accurate and detailed records of all laboratory activities.
Collaborate with other researchers and laboratory staff to achieve research goals, including contributing to the planning and design of experiments.
Communicate regularly with team members to share data, troubleshoot experiments, and coordinate tasks.
Help with the preparation of scientific papers, presentations and posters.
15% will be Data collection, analysis, and presentation, SOP writing, lab records and inventory maintenance
5% to attend meetings, place orders, and miscellaneous as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (must be documented)
Bachelor degree in microbiology/neuroscience and at least 1 year of hands-on laboratory
research experience with knowledge of basic BSL-2 techniques and procedures; or
related areas with a combination of education and work experience to equal 5 years.
Must be willing to work with animals, including mice, pigs, or other production livestock
and be willing to process animal tissue. The job may require obtaining medical clearance
to handle infectious agents, including receiving mandatory vaccinations.
Must be willing and able to work in a BSL-2 laboratory setting with appropriate training
provided on the job.
Requires ability to use basic computer skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Statistical analysis
software etc.)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
An advanced degree with microbiology emphasis, 1-3 years of laboratory experience
working with cell culture and infectious agents, in particular viruses, and ability to handle
and work with animals, particularly pigs. Additional expertise in any of the following is
preferred:
Advanced experience with cell culture and in BSL-2 laboratory techniques
Experience working with swine (or mice, rats, or hamsters)
Experience with molecular biology and cellular biology techniques (like ELISA
genotyping, RT-PCR, flow cytometry, nucleic acid extraction, Western blot, or
Sequencing analysis).
Ability to work in collaborative environment
