The position is hybrid/remote but travel may be required for meetings, data collection, or other research project activities.

The Research Associate will work under the supervision of Dr. James Bates in the Department of Extension, Family and Consumer Sciences, within the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences. The Research Associate will collaborate with the supervisor to design, implement, evaluate, and analyze family science research projects and family life education programs. The family science research projects and family life education programs are related to intergenerational family relationships, family-school interaction, parenting education, men in families, and/or youth development in context.

For research projects, the Research Associate will collaborate with the supervisor in conducting and synthesizing literature searches, implementing participant recruitment activities, participating in both qualitative and quantitative data collection and cleaning activities, and using software to analyze the data. This person may lead the preparation of grant funding applications, institutional review board (IRB) applications to conduct research, and funding reports. They will participate in developing, writing, and co-authoring manuscripts for dissemination and publication. They will also coordinate and facilitate research team activities and perform administrative tasks and other duties as assigned. In sum, they will collaborate with the supervisor in carrying out research project activities from conception to completion.

For family life education programs, the Research Associate will participate in the development of curricula, didactic activities, marketing, recruitment, delivery and teaching, and implementation of programs in community settings. They will collect data and analyze formative and summative evaluation activities. This person will be involved in writing up program-related outcomes for publication and/or presentation. In sum, they will collaborate with the supervisor in carrying out family life education activities from conception to completion.

The position is hybrid/remote but travel may be required for meetings, data collection, or other research project activities. The frequency, pattern, and choice of days for hybrid work schedules may vary based on the policies of the organization and the roles and responsibilities of different employees. The ideal mix of remote and office work will be determined by the supervisor and the employee.

The offered position is term, full time and will be filled for up to one year based on performance and funding.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. Master's Degree preferred. 1-3 years of relevant experience required. 3-5 years of relevant experience preferred.

The pay range for this profile is $38,430 - $56,900/annually. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
