JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The laboratory of Dr. Engeland in the Department of Biobehavioral Health at Penn State seeks a candidate for a full-time (100% FTE) combined Research Technologist & Lab Manager position.

Research in Dr. Engeland’s lab focuses on understanding how factors such as stress and depression affect health, with a focus on inflammatory measures in blood. Health outcomes of interest include cognitive decline and dementia, preterm birth, wound healing, and inflammation.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform protein assays (ELISA, multiplex protein analysis, etc.) and associated data cleaning and management.

  • Processing of biological samples (incubating cell cultures, centrifuging, creating aliquots, tube labeling, freezer storage). 

  • General lab management/maintenance, shipping/receiving of samples, ordering/receiving lab supplies.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher, plus one year of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

All candidates must have strong communication and organizational skills, work well in a team, and be able to work carefully, responsibly, and with great attention to detail. A minimum of one-year experience working within a clinical or research laboratory context is required; preference will be given to candidates with prior experience performing ELISAs or cell cultures.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$38,300.00 - $55,500.00
