Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented molecular biology technician to join our cancer genomics group. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in conducting experiments, performing analyses, and contributing to the overall success of our research projects. Strong organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail is required along with the requisite skill set for high-level molecular biology research. The successful candidate will maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations and assist in the analysis of data. The technician may also perform limited troubleshooting and carry out basic maintenance and QC of laboratory equipment.


Position Requirements

EDUCATION: A Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline is required.
 EXPERIENCE: Researchers with experience in a relative field and excellent fresh graduates are welcome to apply. Experience with molecular biology techniques such as isolation of RNA/DNA, labeling and sorting, gene expression PCR and NGS library preparation/sequencing, and the ability to perform tissue culture techniques is preferred. Handling of clinical specimens including tissue biopsies, blood and urine helpful. Scientific curiosity and a germane understanding of molecular biology and genetics is desired. Computer skills and experience with data presentation is essential.
 SKILLS/OTHER: Must have excellent communication skills, solid analytical & organizational ability, and good penmanship. Strong skills in data collection and laboratory record keeping are essential. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and interact effectively with other members of the research team.

The salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
