Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Research Technician - Jupiter, FL.

The Duboue Laboratory at Florida Atlantic University on the Jupiter campus is seeking a OPS Research Technician. The successful applicant will be required to perform behavioral and gene editing using CRISPR/Cas9 studies with fish to understand the neuronal basis of behavior. The applicant will receive training in a productive, federally funded laboratory. Opportunities for mentoring undergraduate students may also be considered.

Summary of Responsibilities:

  • Perform behavioral experiments with small model fish system such as tetras.

  • Use immunohistochemistry to look at patterns of brain morphology and activity that correspond to behaviorally relevant traits.

  • Perform functional neuroimaging studies on fish.

  • Perform basic fish husbandry and care of model animals in the lab.

  • Assist with basic organization and management of the research laboratory.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Biology or a related field and one year of appropriate experience required.

Salary:

$18.00 per hour.

Monday - Friday, Part time between the hours of 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (up to 28 hours).

Temporary positions are usually not eligible for benefits and retirement; however, they may be eligible for health insurance coverage depending on the average hours worked per week. They provide full-time or part-time employment in an exempt or non-exempt employment situation based on job duties and salary in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Temporary positions do not have layoff rights and may be terminated without prior notice.
