Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy ( is one of six health science schools (Pharmacy, Nursing, Dentistry, Social Work, Public Health, Medicine) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is one of the oldest health science academic programs at Chapel Hill. Position Summary
This position will provide technical and laboratory support for Dr. Craig Lee in the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy Division of Pharmacotherapy and Experimental Therapeutics. The major area focus of the Lee Laboratory is drug metabolism, with projects focused on the impact of pregnancy hormones and genetic factors on the metabolism of drugs used to treat cardiovascular conditions in both preclinical models and in human subjects. The primary responsibilities of this position primarily involve: (1) research support to Dr. Lee and the post-doctoral fellows and students training in his laboratory, particularly in the conduct of (a) experiments in cellular and other in vitro models and (b) sample processing and biomarker assays from biologic samples collected from preclinical and clinical studies; and, (2) laboratory operational and administrative support to Dr. Lee, including ordering supplies, documenting expenditures, maintaining equipment, handling sample storage and data files, monitoring and tracking laboratory safety, and coordinating experiments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Experience maintaining primary cells and stable cell lines in culture and conducting cell culture experiments 
* Experience with molecular biology techniques such as isolation of DNA/RNA/protein, quantitative RT-PCR, and ELISA
* Excellent organizational and communication skills
* Strong sense of teamwork
* Proficient in use of Microsoft Excel
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Bachelor of Science in a laboratory science
* Experience working with primary human hepatocytes in culture
* Experience with in vitro pharmacology assays
* Experience with data management and analysis
