Job Summary 
The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare and submit publications based on research specified by the Director of SCeMFiS (Science Center for Marine Fisheries) and related projects. Responsibilities include support, data analysis and report writing.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Carries out routine data analysis.
  • Gives presentations of data and analysis results.
  • Prepares reports and manuscripts of data and data results.
  • Travels periodically for field research.
  • Assists with lab work and performs other duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications  
    Master’s degree in a Marine Sciences, Marine Biology, or a related field OR a Bachelor’s degree in Marine Sciences, Marine Biology or a related field plus 2 years of experience. Research experience in fresh water or marine systems. Experience with peer review publication process. Experience with optics to measure food supply.
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities 
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Proficient in Matlab
    • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Patience and determination.
    • Teamwork and Interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
    • Excellent mathematical skills.
    • Ability to problem solve.
    • Ability to complete the peer review process in a timely manner.

    Preferred Qualifications  
    Field experience in marine or freshwater research including invertebrate identification and water quality analysis; proficiency in R, and Windows operating systems; proficiency in basic statistics; SCUBA certification; experience with commercial oyster fisheries; experience with operating absorption-inversion models
