Job Summary

Performs a variety of independent laboratory work and experiments such as determining experimental protocols and preparation of specimens and cultures. Prepares reports of findings subsequent to compilation and analyzation. Oversees specimen inventory. Develops documentation for publication; crafts manuscripts and grant proposals.


Essential Functions 

The primary responsibilities of the Research Technician will be to assist in histological analysis of mouse tissues, microscopy, and other biochemical assays (Western Blotting, Elisa, PCR). The candidate will be trained in cell sorting techniques, Next Gen sequencing and analysis of transcriptional profiles, histology techniques, and confocal microscopy.  The candidate will help maintain transgenic mouse colony; perform all needed animal husbandry tasks and genotyping. They will be asked to help maintain and perform in vitro experiments. The incumbent will also assist processing and handling of samples associated with different studies, including sample entry into a central database. The candidate will also be expected to assist with database entry and data management, as well as daily lab operations.


Physical Effort 

Be able to stand or sit at the lab bench and in the animal facility to complete tasks.
