Position Summary
Dr. Sayaka Inoue’s lab is seeking a motivated technician with lab experience to conduct research projects and assist with research activities at Washington University School of Medicine. Our lab is focused on understanding the molecular and circuit mechanisms underlying hormone-dependent changes in behaviors, aiming to understand the etiology of women’s neuropsychiatric symptoms related to premenstrual syndrome, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and menopausal syndrome. We utilize mouse molecular systems and neuroscience techniques.
This position assists with the technical aspects of studies and experiments, including documentation and preparation of materials.

Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and set-up and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintains files on research and assists with data entry.
  • Maintains animal colony including genotyping.
  • Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning.
  • Assures compliance with University policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

Works in laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological, chemical and laser hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology or related science field.
  • Lab experience. 
  • Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with strong critical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.              
  • Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
  • Ability to be highly productive in a collaborative work environment.


Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and up to 1 year of experience in a laboratory setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience equaling 4 years.

Salary Range
$16.59 - $25.92 / Hourly

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
