The Do Monte Lab is looking for a highly motivated Research Technician II to work in the field of neuroscience using rat models of learning and memory.
The candidate should have experience in one or more of the following: rodent husbandry, laboratory techniques, and laboratory management. Personal qualities essential for this job include: sense of responsibility, excellent organizational skills , clear and effective verbal/written communication, interest in working with animals, and desire to contribute to understanding the brain. The candidate is expected to directly work with students and postdocs to conduct experiments, organize the rat colony, and manage the laboratory equipment and supplies.
This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.
Lab focus: The Do Monte Lab focuses on understanding the brain mechanisms underlying emotional memories. We are particularly interested in elucidating the neural circuits involved in the regulation of fear and reward-seeking behaviors. Our Lab uses a multidisciplinary approach that combines immunohistochemistry, optogenetics, chemogenetics, electrophysiological recordings, and calcium imaging in freely behaving rats.

Minimum Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Two years of research laboratory experience.
May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
This position may include work involving potentially hazardous chemical, biological or radioactive agents.

Residency Requirement:
