Position Summary
The Research Technician will make initial decisions about issues with participants that would cause them to not be able to complete a research study. When unusual conditions or situations arise, the individual will consult with the supervisor about what course to follow. In addition this individual will problem solve when problems arise in task administration.
This individual must be able to explain tasks to participants in a way that facilitates the participant's being able to complete the study.
This is a part-time (less than 20 hours a week), non-benefits eligible position.


Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administer functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG)  scans for human subjects.
  • Administer cognitive and/or neuropsychological tests to human subjects.
  • Process data and blood-draw.
  • Maintain participant files.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology or neuroscience. 
  • Experience with data and blood-draw processing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to make initial decisions about issues with participants that would cause them to not be able to complete a research study.
  • Ability to problem solve when problems arise in task administration.
  • Expertise with SPSS and/or R statistical programs, Excel, and web programming (e.g., Javascript, Python).
  • Previous experience working with patient populations.
  • Strong organizational, and planning skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work well with graduate students, postdocs, and undergraduate students working as research assistants within the lab.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative on array of projects and duties each day.
  • Good computer skills (e.g., knowledge or potential to learn SPSS, R, Qualtrics, Excel, Powerpoint)


Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent high school certification.

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
