The Rothschild Lab studies the neural circuit mechanisms that underlie the bidirectional interaction between sensation and memory in health and disease. To this end, the lab uses a wide range of neurophysiological and optical techniques to record and perturb neural activity in the neocortex and hippocampus of rodents, as they learn to perform sensory- and memory- guided tasks. This work uses mice and rats as model systems. The lab is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual for a lab tech position.

  • Maintenance of the rodent colonies handling, breeding and record keeping
  • Performing histology (sectioning, slice mounting, imaging)
  • Genotyping mice
  • Assisting in maintaining compliance with EH&S (safety) and IACUC (animal handling) guidelines, including in preparing the lab for inspections
  • Assistant with ongoing lab management 
  • High school diploma or Associate's degree
  • At least 1 year of prior laboratory experience in the biological sciences
  • Bachelor's degree in neuroscience or related field 
  • Willingness and ability to work with animals
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to work independently as well as a part of a research team
  • Excellent people skills

The salary range is $31,200 through $33,900. Please note a higher salary may be offered based on equity and the selected candidate's experience.


This is a 12-month term-limited position with the possibility of renewal. The anticipated start date is May 1st, 2024.


This position will be 20-40 hours per week, depending on the candidate preferences and lab needs.
