THIS IS A GRANT-FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:  The Research Technician 3 supports data mining and machine learning studies to detect retinal conditions by focusing on research regulatory management, data collection, and coordination of all communication needs associated with a related research program.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages all regulatory issues, including protocol submissions, study record keeping, continuing approval, communication, and any other requirements specified by IRB.
  • Oversee adherence to research regulations including drafting/obtaining informed consent forms, data management, drafting/updating/collection/storage of all trial related forms and paperwork, adverse event reports, and any additional requirements specified by IRB.
  • Participates in all additional resources and data collection, storage, management, auditing, and security as directed by research and program leadership.
  • Develops a manual of operations for research studies and implements research protocols according to the manual of operations and IRB approved protocols.
  • Organizes datasets of the lab and create documentation of related studies.
  • Oversees the marketing/public relations/advertising of the program's offerings and accomplishments to lay and professional audiences.
  • Takes lead responsibility for continuous, proactive communication with community partners, academic collaborators, research subjects, and stakeholders.
  • Maintains detailed records of implementation of study activities according to timeline and problem-solve when needed to overcome delays to scheduled activities.
  • Plans, executes, and creates/maintains records and minutes for all meetings and video/teleconferences.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION:  Bachelor’s Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: One (1) year of experience in public health, statistics, or experience in an academic research setting.   

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to work both independently and in close contact with a study team, clinical providers, patients, academic collaborators, students, and community participants.
    • Highly developed organizational and time management skills.
    • Fluency with research management and regulatory issues; strong personal drive and work ethic aimed towards personal and professional enrichment.
    • Ability to learn and expand skills within this position.
    • Comfort with quantitative/qualitative data collection, scientific writing community-based health research, and public presentation.
    • Impeccable interpersonal and communication skills across a wide spectrum of colleagues, stakeholders, and collaborators, across a wide assortment of work settings located at the Medical School and within the community.

    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings and weekends. May require occasional overnight travel.
