Job Overview
The Research Technician 3 directly supports vital research to find a cure for diabetes mellitus. Working both independently and/or as a team member, they provide skilled capabilities to support the scope of research related functions that require a high degree of proficiency.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Perform complex laboratory and research related tasks, which include immunologic in vitro assays, RIA, ELISA, and prep for SEM; and perform in vivo studies in animal models
- Troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions
- Evaluate experiment results using statistical and multivariate analysis
- Act as a specialist on laboratory or other research methods and equipment functions
- Perform unsupervised library research of collections of data, organization, processing, analysis; and assist with data interpretation including manuscript preparation
- As assigned, assist the instruction of a laboratory academic section in research techniques, instruments, lab methods, and procedures and safety
- Perform database entry, sample tracking, and review and documentation of detailed information interpretation
Work Interactions
Reporting report to the Lab Director/Principal Investigator, the Research Technician 3 works with investigators on extending current acquisition and analysis techniques; and supervises student workers in their research work.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- 2 to 3 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with investigators
- Ability to use measurable and verifiable information for making decisions or judgements
- Ability to work as part of a team and to use a consultative approach to resolve issues in area of responsibility
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Ability to assist in the preparation of technical produces and reports
- Ability to maintain good record keeping
- Aptitude for learning new techniques
