Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist I to support their digital dentistry program. The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Georges E. Sara Digital Dentistry Center and other school laboratories related digital dental workflow. The responsibilities will focus on production and education. The position will also be responsible for equipment and purchase recommendations and maintenance.
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
  • Provides training in the new dental technology and digital equipment.
  • Supports the faculty with preparing instructional materials and programs for pre and post-doctoral students as well as with providing instructions of technical components of dental technology.
  • Participates in RSDM’s continuing education programs by assisting with curriculum development of digital dental technology; reviews cases with dental faculty, pre, and postdoctoral students for furthering educational purpose.
  • Designs and fabricates surgical guides for residents at the school.
  • Follows the dental faculty, pre, and postdoctoral student provider’s instructions via dental prescription(s) to produce dental restoration, fixed, and removable dental prostheses utilizing digital software and CAD/CAM technology; ensures that dental cases are scanned, designed, and manufactured for patients with accuracy; and sends digital files (STL) out to be manufactured from another laboratory as needed.
  • Performs various research and clinical laboratory operations independently or as assigned, followed by appropriate reports, recommendations and conclusions.
  • Assists with the instructing and training of dental residents, including direct contact with postgraduate dental students, graduate students, dental students and interested faculty in the laboratory and microbiologist procedures and instrumentation in order to teach the skills necessary to perform the required functions.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rutgers’ regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Dentistry plus three (3) years of related experience with dental materials. 
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be extremely conversant in laboratory operations and organization with focus on productivity issues and demonstrate excellence in workmanship in the field.
  • Successful incumbent will have excellent verbal and written communication skills and have ability to work effectively with a diverse population of faculty, staff, and students.
  • Must be skilled in the application of digital dental technology, specifically scanning, CAD/CAM design, 3D printing, and milling.
