Research Support Specialist I - Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics (College of Arts & Sciences) - Subramanian Lab
Dr. Subramanian’s group focuses on understanding the principles governing cellular heterogeneity, crosstalk, and evolution in the context of human tissues and disease. Her interdisciplinary research program operates at the nexus of high-throughput data measurements, development and application of computational methods, and experimental design, with key collaborations for clinical samples, and mechanistic validations in vivo and in situ.

The research support specialist will conduct processing and analysis of diverse high-throughput ‘omic datasets (transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics), have multi-year proficiency in either R or Python programming, provide bioinformatics support, lead data management efforts, and assist with research activities in a fast-paced academic lab setting with opportunities to acquire new skills in analysis of cutting edge multi-omic data types.
This is a 12-month, full time position with possible extension depending on funding.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in R, unix and high-performance computing.
- Use best-practices for reproducible coding.
- Strong organization and documentation skills
- Experience applying statistics and other analysis methods to complex genomic datasets.
- Must be adaptable and self-motivated, and able to quickly acquire and apply new skills independently.
- A work history demonstrating strong motivation, reliability, and good judgement.
- Work effectively and cooperatively within a team environment.
- Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Experience in and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, mathematics or related quantitative field with 2-4 years of experience in an academic research environment in computational genomics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of experience working in quantitative genomics including analysis of RNAseq, methylation and GWAS datasets.

Pay Range- $62,035 to $65,137
