Research Specialist

This position will provide oversight and direction to Dr. JP van Pijkeren's research operations including his lab in the Department of Food Science. The incumbent will work in partnership with the PI to ensure research conducted is at the highest quality level, and will provide high-level project oversight so as to ensure the research is carried out as efficiently as possible. This position will support existing studies and plan new research projects. This individual will directly contribute to grant applications and research methodologies with guidance from the PI and other research staff.

• 35% Conducts research experiments according to established research protocols with moderate impact to the project(s). Collects data and monitors test results
• 10% Operates, cleans, and maintains organization of research equipment and research area. Tracks inventory levels and places replenishment orders
• 10% Reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and/or documents results for presentations and/or reporting to internal and external audiences
• 35% Participates in the development, interpretation, and implementation of research methodology and materials
• 5% Provides operational guidance on day-to-day activities of unit or program staff and/or student workers
• 5% Performs literature reviews and writes reports

Preferred
Bachelor's Degree

2-3 years practical experience in microbiology. Strong background in molecular biology, microbiology, and/or biochemistry. Post-doc experience will be considered. Excellent oral/written communication skills, good interpersonal skills and a proven record of working effectively as a team member are necessary.

Full Time: 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
