Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Loeser Lab conducts basic and translational research studies using human cells/tissue and mouse models to investigate mechanisms contributing to the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis.
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Research Specialist working under the supervision of the lab PI to ensure the aims of ongoing projects are being carried out. The work will include placing orders, preparing media and buffers, autoclaving, and conducting basic wet lab experiments including cell isolation and culture, isolation of protein and RNA, immunoblotting, ELISA assays and PCR. Work will also include assisting the Lab Animal Manager with mouse colony maintenance and tissue harvest. Some data analysis would also be required as well as preparing results for presentation to the PI and lab group.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Experience in the discipline and working in a wet lab research setting
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrated possession of the competencies required to perform the work. Prior experience as a research technician for at least one year.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Visual acuity and physical dexterity needed to operate standard laboratory equipment. Ability to assist the Lab Animal Manager with studies using rodents (mice or rats).
