Research Specialist

The Ludwig Princeton Branch at Princeton University seeks applicants for a Research Specialist position to join the Lynch Laboratory focused on studying cancer immunology, and the effect of diet and obesity on cancer progression. The successful candidate will work with the P.I. and members of the lab to design and perform experiments with a particular focus on the analysis of mouse model of obesity and cancer, as well as immunotherapy in humanized mouse models. This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension.

 

Rank and salary are dependent upon qualifications and experience.



Specific duties include but are not limited to laboratory rodent care and handling; maintaining and breeding of transgenic mouse colonies; rodent survival surgeries; in vivo metabolic cage procedures and management, in vivo luminescence imaging; quantification of tumor growth; tissue culture and lab maintenance work. Working with other labs to aid use of metabolic cage collaborations is also a feature of this position.



Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong background in science and a bachelor's degree
  • Math and computer proficiency, along with meticulous record keeping
  • Must be highly motivated, a team player, able to work independently, and must have excellent written and oral communication skills

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional in vivo study experience from coursework and/or internships is a plus
  • Optimally, the candidate has demonstrated experience with laboratory rodent care and handling
  • 5+ years experience
  • Previous experience with animal model systems and/or mammalian tissue culture
  • A strong background in molecular biology, immunology and/or cancer biology is highly desirable along with the ability to perform advanced mouse work, including colony management, genotyping and rodent injections and surgical procedures
  • Knowledge of mammalian cell culture and mouse genetics is a plus
