Job Description:

The Goddard Library of Clark University seeks a collaborative, dedicated, and nimble librarian to serve as Research Services Librarian. Reporting to the Head of Instruction, Research, and Access, the incumbent will lead research services to students, faculty, and staff, in-person, online, and through a variety of modalities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to working in a small university environment where both teaching and research are emphasized, and where innovation and initiative are celebrated. Design, coordination, and assessment of a library liaison program, as well as development and redesign of online and in-person research support services will be the early foci of the position.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the realization of the strategic vision of the Instruction, Research and Access Team, with a focus on shaping and refining research services to a diverse group of students and faculty.
  • Collaborate with library colleagues, department heads, the University Librarian, and campus partners to develop, promote, and iterate research services, including faculty research support, and copyright support.
  • Use data-driven insights to assess, report, and enhance research services. Stay current with emerging trends in technology and information-seeking practices.
  • Engage in library and campus-wide committees as appropriate, contributing expertise and insights to institutional decision-making processes.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills relevant to the field of library science, including current trends in higher education, academic libraries, information technologies, and pedagogical approaches by engaging with professional literature and/or through active participation in voluntary service, publication, presentations, and membership in relevant professional organizations.


Requirements:

  • ALA-accredited master's degree in library and information science or a relevant master's degree in a related discipline and three years of experience working in an academic library setting.
  • Knowledge of current industry trends related to student success, diversity, equity, & inclusion in higher education, faculty research services and scholarly communications, and open access publishing models.
  • Enthusiasm for leveraging technology, web applications, and productivity tools to enhance library services.
  • Experience in fostering an inclusive workplace, with effective communication skills across a diverse range of constituents.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, faculty, and staff to achieve shared goals.
