Job Summary:

The Research Services Professional will work within the Division of Family Planning, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The role will be to coordinate activities required to perform clinical research protocols, recruit participants for clinical studies, schedule and conduct study participant clinic visits, accurately record and enter data, respond to data queries from study sponsors, and support physician investigators. The role will also include completing a medical record chart review that will assess long-term outcomes in contraceptive initiators. This will include reviewing electronic medical charts, extracting data, and recording data in the Research Electronic Data Capture system (REDCap). This position requires that you work with other Research Services Professionals in the Division of Family Planning. Activities will be split between the Anschutz Medical Campus and the Lowry campus in Denver. The Research Services Professional will not be called on to make independent medical decisions at any time, but a solid fundamental knowledge of biological and medical sciences is necessary for this position. Additionally, an appreciation of accepted methods of clinical research is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of clinical trials and studies
  • Obtain study participant’s medical history and current medication information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in clinical trial
  • Perform informed consent processes and/or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required
  • Interview prospective participants for a variety of research clinical trials. Educate potential participants on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews
  • Schedule study participants in  clinical trials, coordinating availability of necessary space, and clinical research support (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy)
  • Collect, code, and review data obtained from research in an accurate and timely manner
  • Adhere to research regulatory standards
  • Maintain detailed records of studies to ensure compliance with requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), study protocols, department, hospital/clinical standard operating procedures and other regulatory guidelines
  • Participate in participant recruitment efforts, including communicating with patients expressing an interest and all pre-screening/screening activities
  • Participate in weekly research update meetings by preparing and updating study tracking documents
  • Ensure that the necessary supplies and equipment for studies are in stock and in working order

Onsite – this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis

Intermediate Level:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis
  • One (1) year clinical research or related experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or health related field
  • Clinical research or related experience
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g. EMR or EHR and data management systems)
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

    Entry: $47,743 - $60,729

    Intermediate: $51,956 - $66,088

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
