Research Senior Associate who designs, executes and manages research projects in the expression and purification of proteins using bacterial, insect, and mammalian systems in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory of the Center for Biomolecular Structure and Function (CBSF) in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology (BCP); collaborates with principal investigator to develop and implement goals and objectives of studies; conceptualizes, designs and executes complex laboratory experiments; plans and executes advanced molecular and cellular techniques, operates advanced instrumentation to quantify biomolecular interactions; plans, coordinates and oversees processing and analysis of data; fosters collaborative research opportunities with faculty, research groups, sponsoring agencies and organizations as well as with other research and educational institutions, including and not limited to OSU’s cryo-EM facility; collaborates with principal investigator to write and prepare research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports and articles; manages administrative activities of CBSF laboratory; works with department administration and other parties about funds and expenditures; participates in developing and managing project budgets; trains and supervises research staff and students; manages daily operations of the laboratory; oversees and initiates procurement of lab supplies and equipment; provides technical assistance and supervision of equipment; other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education Required

Master’s Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Qualifications

A Master’s degree in an appropriate biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 4-5 years of relevant experience. Considerable experience in a biological/health research capacity is required. A Doctoral degree in an appropriate biological/health science field is desirable. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
