THIS IS A GRANT FUNDED POSITION

JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Chair of Neurology, the Research Project Coordinator assists and supports research projects/grants, support investigator-initiated projects, and participates in industry-sponsored experimental diagnostic and therapeutic trails for the Department of Neurology. This position plans, directs, and coordinates activities to ensure grant or multiple clinical research studies are accomplished within the prescribed time frame. This is accomplished by performing grant management, clinical trial management, overseeing data quality and research compliance, and supervising and training staff across multiple studies and research sites.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates grant or clinical research studies, clinical trials or community-based research studies with all adult populations.
  • Implements research protocol, monitors participant adherence to protocol, and takes action to correct problems such as deviation from protocol requirements.
  • Hires and trains staff for each grant or clinical trial.
  • Creates and designs case report forms and data collection tools according to the needs of the study protocols.
  • Oversees and identifies challenges with enrollment and retention and implements action plans to remedy issues.
  • Develops Manuals of Procedures for staff across each project, distributes information appropriately, and ensures training of all staff.
  • Mentors and develops lower-level research staff by assigning appropriate tasks, overseeing work assignments, and providing feedback.
  • Completes employee performance reviews and makes recommendations for promotions, transfers, demotions, or discharges.
  • Orient new employees for departmental and University policies and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with protocols and federal regulations, Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, and University policies regarding clinical research across projects.
  • Assists Principal Investigator and Research Manager with budget monitoring.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

     

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:  

    EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or related Health Sciences field. (Master’s Degree in Psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Nursing, or related Health Sciences field preferred.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years related experience including human subjects (clinical) research; OR Master’s Degree and one (1) year related experience.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of research methods and study design.
    • Intermediate or higher-level skills in platforms and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and manage a study team.
    • Ability to manage competing priorities.
    • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.

    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
