Posting Summary
The Vermont Center on Behavior and Health (VCBH, https://www.med.uvm.edu/behaviorandhealth/home ) is an interdisciplinary, internationally-recognized research center committed to investigating relationships between personal behavior patterns (i.e., lifestyle) and risk for chronic disease and premature death. VCBH’s work has historically focused on health disparities for the most vulnerable populations, particularly among the socioeconomically disadvantaged, where these risk factors are overrepresented.
This position will conduct the day-to-day tasks associated with running a research study testing interventions to reduce tobacco use. Responsibilities include maintaining study databases, participant recruitment, meeting with participants, verifying participant consents, administering questionnaires, conducting interviews, blinding study tobacco products, managing study equipment and supplies, distributing study tobacco products, and coordinating and conducting study procedures. Position will also oversee the distribution of participant compensation and purchase of equipment and supplies. Assist the Principal Investigator as needed with research related activities and with IRB-approved protocols and the preparation of progress reports, presentations, and manuscripts. Other duties include maintaining files and records, using discretion regarding sensitive information, and maintaining confidentiality within the framework of the University guidelines. Position reports to Principal Investigator and receives functional supervision from the project manager and/or biostatistician.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree is required, preferably in a related field such as, psychology, social work, or medical areas and one to three years’ related experience required.
Must have experience with the Microsoft Office suite (e.g., Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and ideally experience or training in data management.
Desirable Qualifications
Attention to detail and an interest in behavioral health research.
Experience in research is desirable and specific experience with study management would be considered a particular strength.
Experience working with participants in a research setting is a strength.
