The Johns Hopkins University department of Genetic Medicine is seeking a casual Research Program Assistant  during Summer of 2024 for the Kasper Center of Excellence for Pediatric Genetic Syndromes with Aortopathy Precision Medicine (Aortopathy PMCOE). The Aortopathy PMCOE is a philanthropically funded research organization focused on developing the precision medicine platform for genetic Aortopathies such as Marfan, Loeys-Dietz and Vascular Ehlers Danlos syndromes. The Aortopathy PMCOE uses a highly collaborative approach that utilizes the patient electronic health records to build a research registry to be used to develop predictive algorithms for use in personalized medicine. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigators and Data Research Managers, the Research Program Assistant is responsible for assisting in writing and literature review tasks to aid in publication of data obtained under the PMCOE project.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform literature and background searches for ongoing projects within the Department of Genetic Medicine PMCOE.
  • Support needs for writing and designing presentations in poster and manuscript format surrounding specific projects including disparities in Marfan syndrome and bowel ruptures in Vascular Ehlers-Danlos
  • Work alongside international writing committee for Loeys-Dietz guidelines to create educational factsheets in congruence with medical recommendations.
  • Assist in other projects as time allows.

  • Must have excellent time management skills.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft software applications, including spreadsheets, and word.


Specific Physical Requirements

  • Remote/Virtual.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent. 
  • Some related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in clinical settings (e.g. clerical, volunteer work, or shadowing experience in hospitals or clinics)
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline or familiarity with medical vocabulary.
  • Some college courses.

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY ($39,780 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Casual / On Call 
Schedule: M-F, 20 hrs per week, 8:30 to 5pm schedule w/supv 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt 
Location: Remote
