Position Summary
We are seeking highly motivated scientists to join our growing team! Work in the lab involves mammalian cell culture for cell line engineering, reprogramming of patient samples into induced pluripotent stem cells and stem cell differentiation, molecular biology ranging from genotyping to CRISPR screen, and bioinformatics analyses. Scientists with diverse backgrounds should expect to be cross-trained and work in more than one service area. Teamwork is imperative to our success. Genome Engineering & Stem Cell Center (GESC@MGI) is a premier fee-for-service core facility that supports hundreds of labs building research models using ever changing, cutting edge CRISPR and stem cell technologies. GESC@MGI is under the McDonnell Genome Institute, affiliated with the Department of Genetics.
Job Description
Working Conditions
- This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. The individual must be able to follow provided safety guidelines.
Salary Range
- Base pay is commensurate with experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree.
- Ample experience with mammalian cell culture is highly preferred.
- Strong background in molecular biology is desirable.
- Stem cell experience is desirable.
- Strong skills in scientific and critical thinking as well as troubleshooting.
- Computer skills: proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
- Ability to maintain good laboratory record.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
Grade
Salary Range
The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
