The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) is seeking a research leader to establish a new unit focused on disease ecology, geospatial analysis, and epidemiological modeling of endemic animal diseases. The unit is located at Mississippi State University’s High-Performance Computing Collaboratory and will work closely with the College of Veterinary Medicine and the Geosystems Research Institute. Additionally, the unit will develop modeling tools for federal agencies that respond to animal disease outbreaks. The unit's primary focus will be to create disease ecology and epidemiological models of animal disease, genomic epidemiology models, and systems for rapid, low-cost, population-level disease surveillance that improve modeling.

An ideal candidate for this position will have a research background in epidemiology, veterinary medicine, ecology, or agricultural engineering and management experience.
