Summary

The principal investigator is a physician-scientist whose lab is dedicated to the study of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) using a combination of human genetics, cell culture systems, and animal models including mice and zebrafish. Two-year commitment is preferred.

Responsibilities*
  • Microinjection, manipulation, and characterization of zebrafish embryos
  • Breeding and genotyping of mice and zebrafish
  • Routine mouse handling and manipulation including ear tagging for identification and tail clipping for genotyping
  • Molecular biology techniques (RNA and DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA cloning, etc.)
  • Participate and present in laboratory meetings, with potential opportunities for local and national conferences
  • Assist in maintenance and ordering of laboratory supplies and research equipment

Required Qualifications*

Research Lab Tech Intermediate: 

  • HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 1+ years experience.

Research Lab Tech Senior: 

  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ years experience

Desired Qualifications*
  • Bachelors degree in a scientific discipline such as genetics, biological science, biochemistry, chemistry, or related field
  • Must be able to commit at least one year to the laboratory (two years is preferred)
  • 6 months to 2 years of at least part-time experience in a related research setting
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of our team
  • Must have previous experience with, or be willing to work with, zebrafish and mice

Senior Level: 

  • More than 2 years of experience in a related research setting

Intermediate Level:  

  • More than 1 year of experience in a related research setting

This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.


Background Screening
