Research Lab Technician I

The Hiniker Lab in the Department of Pathology seeks a Research Technician I position to join its research team. Under direct supervision of the PI, the technician will assist in studies of neurodegenerative disease processes, particularly as related to mutations in the Presenilin 1 gene. The position will require knowledge of basic cell and molecular biology techniques and immunohistochemistry, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to learn basic neuroanatomy under supervision. There may be the occasional need for flexible work hours to meet the demands of the experimental protocols and processing timelines.

Responsibilities :

  • Under direct supervision, carry out experimental protocols using immunostaining and molecular biology techniques
  • Maintain accurate records of experiments and laboratory protocols
  • Prepare commonly used lab reagents and chemical solutions.
  • Stock, maintain, and order laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Shift: Monday - Friday, 9:00am - 5:30 pm

This is a 6 month fixed term position

Hourly range:
The hourly rate range for this position is $21.07 – $27.63. Minimum Education: High school or equivalent Preferred Education: Associate's Degree Minimum Experience: <1 year Preferred Qualifications: - BS/BA in a biology-related field - 1+ years experience in basic molecular biology techniques including immunostaining
