Summary

A research technician position is available in the Ruotolo laboratory at the University of Michigan. We are particularly interested in a candidate who has experience with native ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) and top-down protein sequencing.


The Ruotolo lab is part of the Department of Chemistry which has a long tradition of education and research in the field. The University of Michigan Department of Chemistry has pushed the boundaries of traditional work in fundamental chemical sciences into the interface with other disciplines.

Responsibilities*

Daily activities will be to prepare protein standards, conduct native IM-MS and top-down protein sequencing analyses, as well as develop and document new IM-MS and top-down sequencing methods. In addition, this person will be responsible for communicating their work outside of the laboratory, through peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.


Required Qualifications*

College courses in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field with 1 to 2 years experience in an active research laboratory environment. Must have experience in IM-MS (experience using the Waters Cyclic IMS system is preferred), protein purification techniques, and analytical methods connected to top-down mass spectrometry. The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, ambitious individual who actively seeks opportunities to improve skills and expertise. Must demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills.


Desired Qualifications*

Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field.

This is a full-time, 12-month term-limited position with a possibility of renewal based on the availability of funding, the availability of work, and overall successful performance.
