Summary

A research laboratory technician position is available in Dr. Tian Liang's laboratory in the Department of Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry. Dr. Liang's laboratory studies tooth development and biomineralization. We extensively use cellular, molecular, histological, and ultrastructural approaches to study functions of genes in enamel and dentin formation in mouse models. We look forward to expand our research capacities in in vitro systems, evolutionary analysis, and bioinformatics.   The successful candidate will gain experience in cellular, molecular, histological, and ultrastructural techniques associated with the characterizations of mineralized tissues. The successful candidate should be motivated in basic biomedical research.

Responsibilities*

Work with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other lab members to maintain routine lab works (such as animal management, genotyping, and tissue processing). Carry out independent experiments (such as histological analyses and cell culture), and explore new approaches and topics with the PI. 

Assist in evaluating lab methods, procedures, and techniques based on established objectives. Assist in analyzing results and perform routine data analysis. Prepare reports as requested by PI. Ensure the lab is well stocked and equipment is maintained. Assist with the operation and calibration of lab equipment as needed. Keep the lab organized and compliant with safety standards. Additional duties as assigned by PI.


Required Qualifications*

High school diploma or Associates degree and 1 to 2 year's experience in the broad biomedical field.  Excellent communication skills and team working experience.   Excellent attendance record.


Desired Qualifications*

Knowledge of University of Michigan policies and procedures. Knowledge of School of Dentistry policies and procedures. Research experience in mineralization tissues.

This position is located in the School of Dentistry at 1011 N University Ave
